About us

Sometimes it’s tough to know where to turn when your dog, cat, chicken, bearded dragon or other furry, feathery or scaly friend can’t have your personal attention.  That’s the reason Critter Care, the one and only pet sitting service you’ll ever need, was created.  We want you to have peace of mind when you can’t be with your pets.  We love pets and we treat your pets and your home as we do our own.

In the past 28 years we have cared for dogs, cats, birds (various parrots, finches, cockatiels, parakeets big and small) and fowl (chickens, guineas, pheasants, peacocks, pigeons), pocket pets (guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, rats, ferrets, sugar gliders, hedgehogs), rabbits, aquariums and ponds, livestock (horses, goats, pigs – still looking for a cattle customer), salamanders, frogs, snakes, turtles, chameleons, bearded dragons and one Nile monitor.  We will fill your bird feeders and bird baths.  It’s almost easier to tell you won’t we won’t care for – monkeys and poisonous animals.

One common question I get is about dog breeds.  I like to meet your dogs to determine if we’re a good match or not.  It’s an individual thing; not a breed thing.  I love well behaved pit bulls.  Some dogs need a sitter who is an alpha and we have some sitters who do well with those dogs.  Just ask Arlo.  His regular sitter is DJ and his backup is Denise.

What are the cons for you having a pet sitter?

Hi! I’m Joey and DJ Intermill is my human mom. Not only does DJ own Critter Care but we use our service too. So what do the furry members of this family think of the Critter Care service and the pet sitters? Glad you asked…

What do my 2 cat siblings and I think of DJ having a pet sitting service?

DJ stinks most of the time during daylight hours which is a real plus. Not all pet moms smell like dogs, cats, livestock and pee. DJ is definitely interesting to the nose. There are times when we don’t get to spend big chunks of time with her. She says we must share her so others can go out of town with peace of mind. We’ve had some serious talks lately and DJ is doing less of the pet sitting on the weekends and mornings. Since this started, I’m getting more walks – hooray!

What are the cons for you having a pet sitter?

• From Joey – I love my sitters - Leslie, Jeanine and Stephanie. I get the basic care plus Leslie keeps me outside as long as possible. I get my belly rubbed (my fav), back scratched, kissed and sometimes I chase the laser with the cats. Sometimes the sitters will come by for Critter Care business when mom is home and I get extra attention. No one ignores me; I’m just too cute.

• From Ben and Winnie – We hide from most people but not from the wait staff. Leslie and Jeanine feed us and take care of our other needs. Other than food we also play with strings or a laser. That’s the best – other than the food, of course.

What are the cons for you having a pet sitter?

• From Joey – I don’t need a sitter; I need to go on more trips. Places DJ goes should allow me too. I’m adorable and have my Canine Good Citizenship Award! If you have a business and will allow me, please tell DJ and we’ll come see you. From Ben and Winnie – Breakfast should be served at 5 am, dinner at 4 pm and a snack at 9 pm. This isn’t the sitters’ fault but DJ’s for not insisting on a rigid meal schedule. And while we don’t mind Joey, feel free to go on more trips. More loving for us by Leslie, Jeanine and Stephanie.
